I made a trip home to South Florida this past weekend to meet the newest addition to our family- my baby cousin, Carly. She was born just a week ago, and although my parents tried to convince me to wait until after finals were over to make a trip down from Orlando (I'm a senior at The University of Central Florida), I couldn't wait another day to meet her. I recently purchased this light, floor-length floral skirt from Francesca's. Paired with a salmon colored top, it seemed like a perfect, feminine way to welcome the warm weather and a beautiful baby girl.
This straw clutch has a beachy feel, but the specks of gold dress it up. It also comes with a long gold chain for hands-free days. |

Growing up, holidays- even the insignificant ones, like
April Fools' Day- were always a big deal to me.
My family was already amazing at Christmas, Easter, Halloween, and St.
Patrick’s Day, but we all struggled to make a memorable April Fools' Day. For years I tried my best to execute a great
prank that no one would see coming.
Finally, one morning my sophomore year of high school, I got lucky…or so
I thought.
I had recently read about someone who pranked their roommate
by putting clear plastic wrap under the toilet seat so that when the roommate went to
pee, rather than going down, their pee rose and almost overflowed. Although it’s unsanitary and disgusting, I
found it hilarious at the time, and decided to try this prank out on my mom one
morning before I went to school. I
figured she’d scream, then crack up, and say something to me along the lines of
“good one!”
That didn’t happen.
I was fifteen at the time, which meant I still didn’t fully
understand the importance of a quick, stress-free morning before work. My mom is a dental hygienist, and had to be
at work at 7:30 that morning. When I
woke up that day, I woke up to her screaming my name in an anything-but-happy
tone of voice.
She was furious- and
understandably so, considering my prank caused her to pee all over herself when
she was already dressed in scrubs and in a hurry to make it to work on
time. What I thought would be an epic prank
turned out to be an unfortunate event that caused my mom to be late to work and
got me grounded that day and the next.
Needless to say, I never used this prank on anyone again. Maybe one day, if someone really deserves it
and doesn’t have somewhere important to be, I’ll give it another go. Just know that not everyone agrees on what is
funny. You’ve been warned. Happy April Fools' Day! (And sorry again,
mom).
